IN POSSESSION OF REVOLVER.

NEW PLYMOUTH COURT CASES.

Fol- being in possession of a revolver for iiiore than seven days without registering it and. for obtaining it without a permit under the Arms Act Clarence Robert Parker and Herbert Ernest Inch were each lined 10s and costs by Mr. li. W. Tate, S.M., at NcW Plymouth yesterday. Abi'nt six years ago, said SeniorSergeant McCrorie, Parker obtained, the revolver from a mart iiilitiCd Martin in Christchurch and some time later sold it to Itich, who had said he threw it into a swamp. “My uncle adviefed me to throw it away because it was of no use to me,” said’lnch. “So I threw it into a swamp near Hunterville.” ADJUDGED THE FATHER. By consent an order was wade adjudging William Henry Robinson the fatlier°of some children. On the application of Ain A. A. Bennett proceedings for their maintenance were adjourned till August 19., Counsel mentioned that Robinson had recently been acquitted in the Supreme Court on a serious charge. Those proceedings had aU'ected his health and he had bech ordered away. He was staying with a daughter in To Arolia and was only now getting back to a state in which he would be lit to work. In the meantime he was sure of sustenance, but he had nothing out of which to pay maintenance. Senior-Sergeant McCrorie, replying to the magistrate, said he would like a maintenance order, but recognised the man could not pay at present. OFFENCES BY MOTORISTS. Newell St. Clair Berge was charged with “cutting the corner” of Devon and Kowhai Streets on July 4. He wrote to the court saying his action was due to a bicycle in the vicinity. He was lined £2 and costs 10s, an order being made for the endorsement of his license.

John Berrigan was lined £1 with 16s costs for not having a tail light on hiS motor vau on June 11. Lack of tail lamps were admitted by John Fenton (motor-cycle), G. Fitzpatrick (motor-cycle) and George Richardson (motor-car), who were accosted by Inspector Aroa at Waiwakailid oil tlie evening of Jdue 10. Fenton was lined 20s and 10s costs. Fitzpatrick aiid Richardson, each of whom had. good reflectors, wei‘e each fined 10s and 10s costs.

PROHIBITION ORDER BREACHES.

Archibald Campbell Fox was fined £2 and costs 16s for being found in the Criterion Hotel during the currency of a prohibition order When by Constable Butler he had. denied he had had drink and said he could not help it if he smelt of it.

Henry Lewis Brennan, for whom Mr. A. A. Bennett pleaded guilty, was coiivjeted, the penalty being deferred, for three months, for procuring liquor during the currency ot a prohibition order. Counsel explained. Brennan had taken out the order voluntarily and. was paying maintenance to his family.
