CHURCH SERVICES “ON AIR”
BROADCASTING BY STATION zYB. ARRANGEMENTS ALMOST READY. The broadcasting of church services from Station 2YB New Plymouth has been under consideration for some time, but arrangements are. nearly complete with three churches and it is expected that Sunday evening services will be <: on the air” within a short time. The services held in St. Mary’s Church, Whiteley Memorial Church, and the Baptist Church will be heard in turn, and a service will be broadcast every Sunday. Each church ha." been connected by a land line to the post office, from which runs the station’s own line to the studio. The permanent wiring inside each church has been installed, but the outside wiring has been completed by the Post and Telegraph Department only for St. Mary’s Church at present. The wiring for the others is being done. There are points for two microphones in St. Mary’s Church but only one microphone will 'be used in the other churches, which are smaller. Portable microphones will be used and an amplifier to raiso the volume of bhe sound above the nouse level on the line to the station, where it ie broken down again. A special committee, consisting of the Revs. C. Eaton and F. A. Parry. Messrs 1 W. B. Roy, J. A. Pigott'and F. T. Davis, hae been set up to take over the administration of the church services, deluding; the children’s sfcteion.
