EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN
PEOPLE DRIVEN INTO STREETS.

A sharp and brief earthquake was felt at nine to-night, driving people into the . streets. Reports from Osaka are similar. The extent of the damage is unknown. - A later message says that according to present advices, no lives were lost, and the material damage was unimportant.
