POLAR TRYST NOT KEPT
ACCIDENT TO SUBMARINE ZEPPELIN'S FLIGHT OVER ICE. NO ATTEMPT TO REACH THE POLE. : By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Berlin, June 17. Dr Hugo Eckener announces that, the delay caused by the breakdown' of Sir Hubert Wilkins’ submarine will prevent the meeting of the submarine and the Graf Zeppelin at the rendezvous in the polar Zeppelin will start on July 20 on the first hop to Leningrad and will thence go on a polar cruise for five days. He will not attempt to reach the pole. Upon its return the<Zeppelin will make a non-stop flight to Brazil. . The submarine, with engines disabled, is being towed towards Ireland by the U.S.A, battleship Wyoming. The engines broke down while Sir Hubert was crossing, the Atlantic to England to prepare for his trip under the polar ice.
