TARIKI FOOTBALL DANCE

PRESENTATION OF MEDAL. The Tariki footballers’ presentation dance and euchre party in the local hall was the most successful yet held by the club. The hall was decorated with the club colours, pungas and holly. , The social committee and the ladies social social committee, with the help of the footballers,, served supper. The music was supplied by McNeill’s novelty dance band of five . players. The event of the evening was a presentation of a medal to Mr. G. Goodwin, and for this occasion Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P., for the district, was present. Mr. V. Harkness, president of the club, introduced Mr. Polson. ' Mr. Polson said-the occasion was one in which he was very pleased to be present. In making this presentation he said what New Zealand wanted was clean and true sports. The medal had been given the club by the former member for the district (Mr. E. Walter).Winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss A. Boniface and Mrs. S. O. Byrne, of the spot dance Miss Hucks and Mr. R. Vincent, the hundredth person enter-' ing the hall Miss A. Boniface, Midhirst. In the euchre room there was a record attendance, the winner being Mrs. H. Gush after playing off with Mrs. J. Scott, who took second prize, Mrs. Lee (consolation prize), Mr. T. Weldon (Ist), Mr. D. Davis (2nd), Master Ivan McCullum (consolation). Lucky seat prizes were won by Miss J. Scott and Miss Kock, and Mr. R. Davis and Mr. S. Walker. The secretary of the club (Mr. H. Gush), in presenting the winners with their prizes, congratulated the local basketball team on its great performance in tying with Hawera for the cup on the King’s Birthday.
