STEADY DEMAND FOR BEEF.

An average yarding of ox beef came forward at the weekly stock eales at Frankton to-day. Bidding was’ fairly brisk and late rates were fully maintained. The entry consisted mainly of heavy quality beasts. The demand for store cows was easier, but dairy cows and heifers' close to profit were in keen demand. Fat sheep came forward in large numbers, the competition being keen at full late rates. Fat lambs, of which there was a good offering, sold well. Prices for a medium yarding of both fat and store pigs remained steady. WOOL, SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES MONTHLY SALE AT STRATFORD The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Stratford, reports that the monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides and tallow was held on Tuesday, when the catalogue comprised 1240 sheepskins, 228 hides and calfskins, 8 drums and 23 tins of tallow, and 76 dozen cowtails. Eight buyers representing overseas and Dominion houses were in attendance. Owing to the very low prices ruling all wool was withheld.
