STEADY DEMAND FOR BEEF.

Hamilton, June 9.

An average yarding of ox beef came forward at the weekly stock eales at Frankton to-day. Bidding was’ fairly brisk and late rates were fully maintained. The entry consisted mainly of heavy quality beasts. The demand for store cows was easier, but dairy cows and heifers' close to profit were in keen demand. Fat sheep came forward in large numbers, the competition being keen at full late rates. Fat lambs, of which there was a good offering, sold well. Prices for a medium yarding of both fat and store pigs remained steady. Cattle.—Fat bullocks sold, at £9; light, £6 ss; heavy fat cows, £5 10s to £5 14s; medium, £4 5s to £4 12s 6d; light, £2 6s to £3; forward conditioned cows, £1 10s to £2; store cows, 27s to 345; boners, £1 to 21s; bulls, £1 10s to £3 7s 6d; weaner Jerstey heifers, £2; dairy cows close to profit, £8 5s to £10; Jersey and Jersey cross dairy cows, £6 to £8; in-calf heifers, £3 5s to £4.’ Sheep: Prime fat wethers, 14s to 165,• lighter, to 12s sd; fat ewes, 10s to 12s; lighter, to 6s 9d; prime fat lambs, 15s 3d to 17s 3d; medium, 12s lid to 14s lid. Pigs: Choppers, £2 10s to £3 13s; heavy baconers, £3 7s to £3 10s; light, £2 7s to £2 13s; heavy porkers, 38s to £2 ss; light, 29s to 355; stores, £1 to 265; weaners, 10s to 13s. WOOL, SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES MONTHLY SALE AT STRATFORD The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Stratford, reports that the monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides and tallow was held on Tuesday, when the catalogue comprised 1240 sheepskins, 228 hides and calfskins, 8 drums and 23 tins of tallow, and 76 dozen cowtails. Eight buyers representing overseas and Dominion houses were in attendance. Owing to the very low prices ruling all wool was withheld. Prices were: —■ Sheepskins.—Salted: Crossbred woolly pelts, Is each; do., J-woolled, 9d, Is 3d each; do., -J to J-woolled, Is 3d, Is 6d each; do., hoggets, Is, Is 3d each; do., lambs, 6d, Is each. at per lb: Crossbred, pelts, slightly faulty, IJd; woolly, 2£d; do., 4-woolled, 2Jd, 2fd, 3d; i-woolled, 3d, 3Jd; full woolled, 2d, 3Jd; double fleece, IJd, lfd; hoggets, lamibs, lid to 3d. Hides.—Calfskins: Slipy, 4id per lb; cut, 5 5-8 d per lb; firsts, sound, 8d per lb; heavy, sound, Bid per lb; yearlings, 2d, 2Jd, 3|d per lb. Cowhides: Average, 33 to 391 b, 3 l-8d to 4d per lb;| 40 to 481 b, 3 1-Sd, 3 3-Sd per lb; 491 b and over, 4d per lb. Oxhides: Average, 45 to 521 b, 3 7-8 d; 60 to 691 b, 6 5-Sd to 7d per’lb. Bull hides, 2s 9d each. Horse hides, Is 6d each. Tallow (in steel drums), 10s per cwt; do., in tins, 8s to 8s 6d per cwt; cowtails, 6d per dozen. SHAREMARKET TRANSACTIONS.
