PING PONG AND GENERAL NEWS. A large crowd visited the Pungarehu hall to play ping-pong on Saturday. The competition resulted: —(E. Gilhooley 21 v. H. Hanright 7, S, McFaul 21 v. L Corbett 13, B. Brophy 21 v. A. Corbett 9, R. C. Fleming 22 v. A. Roots 20, J. Priest 21 v. G. Gray 14, C. Brophy 21 v. N. Bayley ,5 S. Jones 21 v. T. Brophy 18, W. Hanright 21 v. L. Brophy 17, Vic. Bayley 21 v. Vai Bayley 17, Mrs. E. Gray 21 v. Mrs. J. Priest 16. Two more rounds were played and S. Jones and B. Brophy were left to contest the finals. S. Jones won by 21 to 15. The social committee decided to postpone the anniversary ball until July 15. The newly formed third grade football team held a practice on Saturday. A pleasant evening was held in the hall, the occasion being a gift evening to Miss A. Corbett, whose marriage to Mr. 8. McFaul will take place shortly. A large crowd was present and the ( veiling was passed in dancing. A large assortment of gifts was placed upon she table and these were opened by the Rev. Sinclair. Mr. McFaul replied on Miss Corbett's behalf. Messrs. R. Alcott, M. Corbe.tt and S. l.orbett have returned from a motor trip to Rotorua and Taupo. Mr. W. Priest motored to Wanganui with All. S. Armstrong, who went on to Gisborne where he intends to spend a short holiday. Air. T. Gilhooley, who is in hospital, is | progressing favourably.
