CONFERENCE POSTPONED

ANNOUNCEMENT IN CANADA.

UNCERTAIN POLITICAL POSITION.

By Telegraph—Preae Assn.—Copyright. Ottawa, June 8.

.The Premier, Mr, Bennett, announced in the House to-day that the Imperial Economic Conference has been postponed until next year. He stated that the Canadian Government had expressed its unqualified belief in the soundness of the proposals it made at the September conference in London.

Australia had requested that in view of the uncertain position politically a postponement should be made. New Zealand had stated that Parliament would probably be in session in August and it was doubtful if a Ministerial representative could be present. The Canadian Government had communicated these representations to Britain and the other Dominions, and the postponement had been agreed upon.
