BOMB ON VERANDAH
RACING MAN’S DISCOVERY.
EXPLOSIVE IN DRAIN PIPE.
A racehorse owner, Mr. P. Lock, of Werribee, Victoria, one evening recently found a bomb on the front verandah of his home. • When Mr. Lock stepped out through the front door he saw a candle burning jn f a corner of the verandah, the candje was standing in a hole in a cement drain pipe, which was lying in an open suitcase. Mr. Lock extinguished the flame. An examination showed that the suitcase contained a roughly-made bomb. The drain pipe contained the explosive and the candle, which was acting as a fuse, had burnt down to within an inch of the power. Mr. Lock reported the discovery to the police. Two men, who were seen loitering near Mr. Lock's home shortly before 0 o'clock, were later intercepted at the railway station and taken to the police station. A fortnight earlier thieves entered Mi. Lock’s home and stole jewelleiy anc othtjr articles valued at £’~3a.
