DEADLOCK IN TANGARAKAU

ULTIMATUM TO WORKERS. EXTENSION OF TIME GRANTED. The time allowed the railway construction workers at Tangarakau to resume work under the new scale of wages has been extended by the Public Works Department till Thursday; otherwise the ultimatum expired on Saturday. A Wellington Press Association message states that a similar extension of v time has been granted the Tawa Flat tunnel workers. The men are to hold a conference with the Public Works engineers to-day and state their case.
