Mr. T. P. Hughson lias been ic-elected chairman of the Opunake Harbour Board.

They were rather surprised that an English-speaking man should be so well acquainted with their own tongue. Word was received in New Plymouth yesterday of the death in Wellington late on Saturday c ening of Mr. Leslie Dinniss, of New Plymouth. .After leaving. the High School he entered, the office of Messrs Weston and Billing, and passed his legal examinations when he was only 21 years of age. Subsequently he joined the staff of Messrs Weston, Izard, Stephenson and Castle, of Wellington, and was considered one of the most promising young lawyers in the city. His death at the early age of 25 will be generally regretted, and the sympathy of the whole community will be extended to his parents and brothers.
