AMATEUR CYCLISTS
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB EVENT. SNOWDEN WINS RACE AND SERIES. \ The postponed race of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club’s road cyclists from Avenue Road to Inglewood and back to the Waiwakaiho, a distance of 27 miles, on Saturday concluded the series with a win for Snowden. Four started and a good finish was provided. The results are:—■ Snowden (scr), lhr. 23m. 23sec. ...... 1 Batten (scr), lhr. 23m. 23 l-ssec. .... 2 Gillies (scr), lhr. 23m. 23 2-ssec. ..... 3 Also started: W. Lowe. Snowden and Gillies made the early pace, Gillies being in front at the factory at Inglewood, where Lowe dropped back. Continual lapping between Snowden, Batten and Gillies followed and in a good finish Snowden won by a length from Batten with Gillies a similar distance away third. .Snowden secured the most points for the ■ series, with Lowe runner-up. The next race will be on Saturday week.
