TENNIS AT HUIRANGI

TARATA TEAM DEFEATED. An enjoyable game of tennis was played at Huirangi on Saturday when the home team defeated a team from Tarata by nine sete and 65 games to five sets and 60 games. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea by local ladies.

Details of the games, Huirangi players being mentioned first in each instance, are:— Men’s singles.—H. Arms defeated Elliot, 6 —5; A. Stadden defeated Standish, 6—l; A. Arms defeated Adnams, 6—<s; H. Giddy lost to Lawrence, 3 —6. Ladies’ singles. —MissLD. Kedgley defeated Mrs. Elliott, 6—l. Men’s doubles.—A. Stadden and A. Arms defeated Standish and Elliott, 6—4; H. Arms and H. Giddy lost to Adnams and Lawrence, I—6;1 — 6; K. Surrey and B. Wells defeated Hanna and Bishop, 6-— Ladies’ doubles.—Misses D. Kedgley and L. Wells defeated Mrs. Elliot and Miss Waite, .6—5; Miss 0. Nicoll and Mrs. Rowe lost to Mesdames Standish and Adnams,-2 —6. Combined doubles—Miss D. Kedgley and Stadden defeated Miss Waite and Standish, 6—2; Miss L. Wells and H. Arms defeated Mr. and Mrs. Elliott, 6 —3; Mrs. Rowe and A. Arms lost to Mrs. Standish and Hanna, o—6; Miss O. Nicoll and H. Giddy lost to Mr. and Mrs. Adnams, 5 —6. The following team will represent Huirangi in a match agains Inglewood B on the Inglewood courts to-morrow: Misses D. Kedgley, L. Wells, O. Nicoll, Mrs. Rowe, Miss W. Arms and Mrs. H. Arms; A.
