EXTENT OF STOCK SPECULATION.

Rec. 7.15 p.m. Washington, March J 5. Despite the stock market crash 504 persons in the United States had incomes of over 1,000,000 dollars in 1929. The Bureau of Internal Revenue announced to-day that there was a diminution of seven from 1928. In 1929, 8650 persons had incomes of £lO,OOO or more aggregating £1,190,400,000. Preliminary stock market losses reported; on the returns totalled £132,200,000, of which persons with incomes of less than £lOOO showed £8,600,000 losses in speculative activities, indicating the extent of speculation in Wall Street at the time of the crash.
