FIRE BRIGADES INSPECTOR

RETIREMENT OF CAPTAIN HUGO.

MINISTER PAYS TRIBUTE.

Wellington, Feb. 25.

The inspector of fire brigades, Captain T. T. Hugo, retires from the Government service on March 31. His duties temporarily will be taken by Mr. R. GiriingButcher, chief inspector of explosives. Reference to Mr. Hugo’s retirement was made by the Minister of Internal Affairs to-day. He said that much of the efficiency of the brigades to-day was due to the splendid co-operation Captain Hugo, as a very experienced fire-fighter, had succeeded in obtaining throughout the Dominion.
