WORK OF DISTRICT NURSE
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The monthly committee meeting of the North Taranaki District Nurse Association was presided over H. V. S. Griffiths. There was a good attendance. The financial report was satisfactory, but in view of the fact that the credit balance was not large enough to 'meet the association’s next quota, which has to be paid, to the hospital board at the end. of March, the secretary was requested to circularise several subscribers whose, subscriptions are due. It was hoped the need for a public appeal for funds would be obviated.
The secretary reported having been elected to represent the District Nurse Association as a member of the earthquake relief executive and also asked, for help in donations of bedding, cutlery and. crockery, towels, sheets, etc., for the refugees arriving. A list of ladies was given to tlie secretary and the latter was requested to write to them asking them if they would become members of the committee as it was felt necessary to extend the interest in the good work done- for the sick and poor by tho district nurse.
Sister Gill’s report for the month of December stated:—Nursing visits have been fewer, but the Christinas season made many demands on time. On December 20 a Christmas party was held in Pukekura Park under the auspices of the New Plymouth Relief Association, when nearly 300 children were entertained. Christmas cheer parcels were distributed to 100 families.
The report for the month ended February 5 fctated:- i -The past month has ■been a busy one in all branches of the work. T-he number of new patients on register is 14, discharged 8, remaining 11, transferred to hospital 1; number of visits to homes, treatments, etc., 130, inquiries 8, charitable aid recipients 41; clothing supplied to 14 families, ,145 articles; domestic help supplied in four instances; telephone calls, 150.
