PARTY ARRIVING TO-NIGHT

OVER 300 TO BE IN NEW PLYMOUTH

USE OF RACECOURSE BUILDINGS.

A party of 04 visitors from the earthquake area of Hawke’s Bay will arrive at New Plymouth by the express toni"ht, There arc two men, 21 women and 71 children, including a family of one woman and nine children. Two children of this family are in hospital in Palmerston North and may be too ill to make the trip. On Saturday a family .of a woman and. seven children will reach New Plymouth, making the total of Hawke’s Bay visitors in the town, well over 300, as already 220 have registered themselves as being billeted with friends. ■ The large number arriving to-night will be accompanied from Palmerston North by Mr. R. Day, New Plymouth. Tea will be provided at Aramoho and Hawera. The station platform at New Plymouth will be closedjto all but relief committee officials. ■ Officials will be stationed at all the entrances. The contingent will be taken to the East End Reserve in buses, ilt is possible two or three families will be accommodated in furnished houses, of which the committee has several on its list. The use of the totalisator building and grandstand at the Ney Plymouth racecourse to house Hawke’s Bay visitors has been granted the relief committee by the Taranaki Jockey Club. Offers have been received from five New Plymouth residents to adopt children from the ’quake area.
