EDUCATIONIST’S DEATH
DISTINGUISHED SCOTSMAN.

Rec. 9.10 p.m. London, Feb. 24. The death is announced of Mr. Hugh Gunn, AI.A., the noted educationist, in his 61st year. After a brilliant scholastic career he' became a teacher and was a member of the Scottish inspectorate before he was 30 years of age. In 1902 he became Director of Education in Orange River Colony and a member of the Legislative Council, and in 1912 and 1913 he organised the University of Western Australia. During the war he served in the army and held important posts in the Ministries of Labour Pensions and Munitions.
