The death of the Ven. E.-A. Scott, formerly Archdeacon .of Christchurch . and Vicar of Sydenham, is announced in a Press, Association cablegram from London. Mr. C. H. Wynyard left for Wellington yesterday morning and will attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants there on ’Thursday. The Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Lar bour, who has been spending the week-end in his New Plymouth constituency, returned to Wellington by the mail train yesterday morning. He was accompanied by his private secretary Mr. Sherwood.
The death on . Sunday of Mr W. G. Orr removes yet another of the early pioneers of North Taranaki. He was one of the old military settlers and fought as a colour sergeant in the Constabulary Force dur ing the Maori War. After having a section at Lepperton he took up a bush farm on Egmont Road, near Egmont Village, where he lived for many years before retiring to New Plymouth. He married a daughter of the late Mr. Edward Olson, Egmont Village, but she diet, many _years ago The late Mr. Orr, who was 86 at the time of his death, is survived by one son, Mr. W. E. Orr (Te Awamutu), and one daughter, Mrs. H. Curline (Fitzroy).
