FARMER’S STRANGE DEATH
HURT BY FALL FROM HORSE DOGS KEEP BULLS FROM BODY. SUBSEQUENT DEATH IN HOSPITAL. ’ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Te Kuiti, Feb. 23. Charles H. Holmes, a well-known farmer of Te Anga, was thrown from a horse which bolted yesterday, and he received a compound fracture of the thigh. When Holmes was lying on the -ground bulls approached the scene and attempted to reach him, but his dogs kept them back. Unfortunately he was lying on the ground for some time before being rescued by his brother. He was taken to hospital, where complications ensued, and he died last night. He leaves a wife and several children.
Mr. Holmes was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Holmes, Watino Road, Pihama. The funeral will take place at Pihama to-morrow.
