Court proceedings at Santa Ana (California) in connection with the will of Mrs. Palmer closed with Judge Scovel’s ‘ unprecedented decision that Mrs; Post was a murderer, despite the attorney’s plea to “leave her sleeping peacefully” and the assertion that since Mrs. Post was dead she would be unable to ba declared a murderer for it was impossible for her to be tried. Mrs. Palmer’s will left Mrs. Post £2OO and jewels. The former’s friends contended that the murderer or her estate ■ was unable to-receive the bequest from the victim. The judge upheld the assertion and ruled that “the murder confession is seen in the fact that Mrs. Post committed suicide; it was a prima facie case of murder.” The case recalls a sensation caused in social circles in America when Mrs. Palmer was found shot, apparently by Mrs. Post, who had then committed, suicide.
