WAIMATE SHOW

CHOICE BLOOMS SHOWN ARTISTRY IN NEEDLEWORK INTERESTING EXHIBITS DETAILS OB’ THE AWARDS The 33rd annual show of the Waimate Horticultural Society was held at MaUala yesterday. There was a splendid display of choice blooms the quality of the exhibits being well up to that of previous years. The decorative work, too, was specially meritorious and looked very attractive. The needlework Section contained a splendid display, both numbers and artistry being better than that of any previous show. The cookery section, ns usual, was very creditable and competition was extremely keen. Home industries included some very fine both quality rind numbers being well maintained. The garden section was slightly weaker than usual, this being occasioned by the variable season, and the display of farm produce and roots, a feature of forniei shows, was entirely absent. This whs due to the fact that root-growing has been practically abandoned by the local farmers. Of special interest was an exhibition of beaten bronze,' pen painting and poker work, the work of Mrs. J- C. Robb. This created much favourable comment.. Winners of the cups as pointe prizes in the respective sections were as follow; —
