OLD SHIP SINKS LIKE LOG
SCUTTLING OF THE MARAROA. By Telegraph'.-—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In 142 fayioms the Union Steam Ship Company’s favourite old passenger steamer Mararoa was scuttled in. Palliser Bay, three miles off Taurakirie Head, at. 4.19, p.m. to-day. With her bottom blown out by a charge of 901 b. of blasting gelatine, the old ship sank like a log four minptes after the shdt had been fired.
