NEW PLYMOUTH GUN CLUB
SUCCESSFUL FIELD DAY HELD. COMPETITORS FROM FIVE CLUBS. A successful field day was held on the occasion of the New Plymouth Gun Club’s last shoot at the trap at Fitzroy, and representatives of the Strat.ford, Eltham, Hawera and Alton clubs were present. As many as 19 were engaged in two of the events. Two small f shoots were held before lunch, which was provided by the club on the ground, and five other competitions were shot off in the afternoon. The weather was fine throughout. A strong breeze made good scoring difficult for the majority, but several “possibles” were registered. The club had intended to stage a £5O event for 21 birds, but sufficient entries were not forthcoming, and it was agreed instead' to hold two £1 sweepstakes.] B. C. Wheeler, of the New Plymouth Club, won the first of these with 14 out of 15 to his credit, and H. Campbell, of the Stratford Club, won the second event with the same score. . The arrangements for the day were a credit to the club, and as president, Air. J. Power was largely responsible for the enjoyable time spent by the visitors. The secretary, Mr. H. Dixon, carried out his multifarious duties very satisfactorily,, and deserves the thanks of the club and shooters alike. Mr. C. L. Grant officiated as handicapper and referee, and his'duties also were no sinecure. Mrs. J. .Winiki ably presided at the ’ luncheon and afternoon tea tables. . : . • ■ ; • l .
