HOMES AWAITING ORPHANS
GENEROUS OFFER FROM SYDNEY. EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS INVITED, By Teleeraph.-r-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister announces that he has received a generous offer from Migs Dalwood, of Sydney, to provide a home and education for 20 orphans of eithet sex under 13 years of age at Lutanda Private Orphanage, Wentworth Falls, New South Wales. The orphanage is situated in the Blue Mountains, and Miss Dalwood will accept full responsibility for the children : after their arrival at Sydney, and acceptance of her offer will involve no expense of any kind by the Governs it of New Zealand in respect of any child during it? stay at the orphanage. .. The Prime Minister has also received a letter from Mr. C. C. Palmer, of Putaruru, offering bn behalf of wife and himself to take and maintain at their own expense one girl for this summer and next winter, or two girls for three or four months, their ages to be about four or five years. The foregoing matters have been referred by the Prime Minister,to the Napier Relief Committee, yvith a rquest that inquiries be made as to whether there .are any cases where it would be desirable to advantage of the qffers.
