REFRIGERATOR FOR ARCTIG
NECESSITY OF EQUIPMENT WILKINS’ SUBMARINE PLANS WORRY NOT TO KEEP WARM MOISTURE CONDENSATION By Telegraph—Tress Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. New York, Feb. 11. Sir Hubert Wilkins will be the first .’man to carry a refrigerator to the Arctic. The explorer stated that instead Of worrying about being able to keep warm he had been forced to find means to keep cold inside the submarine in which he will attempt to sail under the Arctic ice. Keeping cold will be accomplished by means of an electric refrigerator apparatus.
In. order to avoid the condensation of moisture which would result if the inside were warmer than the water, he stated, sub-zero weather would be maintained inside the vessel except for a drying chamber where they could keep warmer for relaxation and in which moisture-absorbing chemicals would be kept.
