WEATHER IMPROVING LATER

Wellington, Last Night.
The weather will be cold, sqpally and changeable with showers at times in most' districts. There will be heavy rain on parts of the east coast with hail in place?. The weather will improve in western districts of the South Island by the morning and the improvement will extend later to other parts. A depression hag been crossing the Dominion to-day, several separate waves being experienced.. An anti-cyclone covers the Western Tpfiman. There will be moderate to strong west to south winds becoming more generally southerly before morning and rising to gale force on parts of the east coast. Seas will beepme tough south of East Cape and rather rough south of Cape Egmont, but elsewhere will be moderate.
