ONE OF THE RECORDS OF THE EARTHQUAKE OBTAINED ON THE SEISMOGRAPHS AT THE DOMINION OBSERVATORY, Fait of the main shock, lasting five hours, is recorded above, and minor after-shocks have left then- signature at intervals below. At the beginning of the main shocks several instruments were put out of action, but they were soon set in operation again and recorded the rest of the earthquake.
