HIDDEN TREASURE
STRUGGLE FOR POSSESSION. Each night as darkness gathers over the religious community known as the House of David, at Milwaukee, 10 stalwart, bewhiskered and long-haired disciples of “Queen Mary” go on guard to prevent “King Harry” spiriting away hidden treasure amounting to £200,000 in gold coins and valuable jewels. The colony is divided into two fiercely opposed parties. One side is led by “Queen Mary,” widow of the late “King Ben” Purcell, who has taken up residence in a section of the grounds known as New Israel, where she is directing her fight for the riches which her husband during his lifetime. On the other side, in Old Israel, are the followers of “King Ben’s” successor to the throne, Judge Harry Dewhurst. Only six persons in the colony have seen the hidden wealth in recent years and know where it is hidden. All are supporters of “King Harry” and will not reveal the secret.
“Queen Mary” has appealed to the Governor of Michigan in an unsuccessful i effort to induce him to force someone to tell where the hiding place is.
