(From Our Own Copresporident.) Treacherous weather continues te disorganise harvesting arrangement? throughout the district. Many farmer's, fearing the loss of hay crops, have decided to harvest ensilage rather than hay. This has resulted in a great increase in the aggregate ensilage crop as compared with that of former seasons, but, even allowing for this factor, there is evidence of the fact that ensilage is now a far more popular crop than was the case a year or two ago. Mr. and Mrs. Vai Green returned to Kdru recently, and residents of the district took the advantage of the opportunity to tin-kettle the young couple at the home of Mr. Green’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Green. An enjoyable dance was held in the Koru Hall on Tuesday last, when the committee made what will probably be its finest effort to raise sufficient funds to pay the cost of electric light installation. The prevailing activity on the harvest fields was responsible for the .attendance being much smaller than is usually the case, but those present had come prepared to spend a. happy evening and combiiled to make it highly successful. Mr. H. Bentham was master of ceremonies, and Mr. P. Meredith was at the piano. The evening was warm, and the soft drinks stall was again well patronised, with the result that the Committee expects to be able to balance its accounts when the time to relinquish office next month arrives. Miss Joyce Yeates has returned from a brief holiday in New Plymouth. During her stay she was able to make the trip to the summit of Mount Egmont, being fortunate in having excellent weather. Mr. Harry Frost, who met with an accident while ■ motor-cycling during the Christmas holidays, has returned to. work. Mrs. L. V. Payne is paying an extended visit io Timaru. p* l » 11 '*' _ ll *' " '-"JJSF
