NOTED ATHLETES TO MEET

NEW PLYMOUTH STAR MEETING. Brilliant athletes will compete in New 1 Plymouth to-morrow. The New Zealand half-mile arid mile champion (Don Evans, Taihape) and the New Zealand Olympic representative (R. A. Rose, Taranaki) will meet in the mile event. Taranaki’s best sprinters (Black, New Plymouth, arid Hamilton, Stratford) will fight out the 100 yards and 220 yards. Entries, which are remarkably numerous, have been received from clubs as far away as Taihape, Marton, Wanganui and Waverley. Twelve clubs are represented in the inter-club banner competition, which will be a wonderful contest; between the stronger' clubs of Wanganui, Hawera, Stratford and ; New Plymouth. Hawera is the holder of the banner, New Plymouth being ruririers-up. last year. event, and points are allotted in the finals of events only,, five for first, three for second and one for third. Since the Wanganui-Taranaki Centre was formed in 1922-23 the banner has been held by Wanganui seasons, and Hawera for four seasons.
