RESOLUTION FROM HAWKE’S BAY

TROUBLE OVER AT PALMERSTON

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Jan. 23. At a largely attended meeting of radio listeners last night the following resolution Was passed: “That this meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Radio Society and listeners of Hawke’s Bay heartily endorses and supports the action of the New Zealand Listeners’ League in its appeal to the Government to move for the protection of B class stations against the imposition of the copyright tax, and further,, that this meeting points out that owing to its peculiar geographical situation in regard to radio reception it is imperative in the interest of Hawke’s Bay listeners that the local B class stations be permitted to continue broadcasting without being hampered by the proposed restrictions, as otherwise a 'big percentage of revenue must be lost to the Government and to the New Zealand Radio Broadcasting . Company through the non-renewal of licenses and a consequent drop in the sales of radio receivers.” SETTLEMENT AT PALMERSTON. BROADCASTING TO BE RESUMED. Palmerston N., Jan. 28. The Manawatu Radio Club has reached a separate agreement with the Australian Performing- Rights Association regarding copyright. Its station, 2ZF, which closed down last week, owing to the failure of the negotiations by B Class Stations Association, will ■resume broadcasting to-night.
