COLD, IMPROVING WEATHER.
"Wellington, Last Night
The weather will be fine on the West Coast of the South Island, but cold, changeable and showery elsewhere, especially in eastern districts. A gradual improvement is predicted. The depression mentioned yesterday passed east of New Zealand, and a rather intense anticyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. There will be strong south-west to southerly winds, decreasing gradually to-morrow. Seas will be rough south of East Cape and about Cook Strait, and moderate to rather rough elsewhere.
