Chib Loses Heavily. The upsets in form were costly to the Wellington Racing Club as well as to investors at Trentham last week, and the decrease in totalisator investments, accentuated by the unfavourable weather, was very severe. The amount handled, £125,194, represented a drop of £64,028 compared with last year. The decrease at the club’s spring meeting was £45,198, so that already this season there has been an aggregate drop of £109,227. The position in regard to totalisator revenue and stakes recovered somewhat from the wide disparity shown on the first day, but the club is still a heavy loser on the meeting. The sum given in stakes was £11,500, while the totalisator revenue was £9689, leaving a deficit of £lBll to be made up from other sources. A further reduction in stakes can therefore hardly be avoided by the club. The Government’s yield from the totalisator was £12,111. Circulation Killed.

The nine-year-old Paper Money—Sister Radius mare Circulation, bred and raced by Mr. L. C. Hazlett, was killed on Tuesday through being struck by the Otago Central express at a crossing. Circulation, was being exercised on the lead when she became frightened and broke away from F. E. Ingram, who was leading her. Ingrain was thrown into a fence and Circulation galloped along the road to -the crossing where the train struck her, severing her hind legs. In her seven seasons of racing Circulation won ten races. The Dunedin Champagne Stakes, Juvenile Handicap (Dunedin), St. Andrew’s Handicap (Dunedin), Provincial Handicap (Dunedin), Southland Handicap, Riverton Cold Cup, Southland Cun, Otago Jockey Club Handicap.
