SHOP STOCKED ON CREDIT
“PARTNER” DEFRAUDED OF £4O.
SENTENCE OF IMPRISONMENT.

According to his. story told in court, Frank Walter Barnes stocked a shop in Auckland with weed-killer and other goods obtained on credit and appointed Nahum Seth Cassrells manager at £4 a week and commission. He represented to Cassrells that he was tho manufacturer of the weed killer and obtained from him a bond of £4O for a partnership, but later he disappeared with this and the money from the shop. Charged with false pretences he was to-day sentenced by Mr. Page, S.M., to two years’ reformative detention, and on two other charges of theft to come up if called on within two years. Accused had a long list of previous convictions.
