BACKBLOCK MISSION WORK
NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH METS. The annual meeting of the St. Mary’s branch of the Back Block Mission workers was held on Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary’s school room, the Ven. Archdeacon Evans presiding. , ■ Miss presented the report and balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance on the year’s working. It was decided to leave in the hands of the chairman and secretary the matter of remitting a further amount if thought advisable, to assist the stipend, of the clergymen carrying on the work. Plans for the coming year were discussed and Mrs. Skinner’s offer to organise a sale of work, on behalf of the funds was accepted with thanks. At the conclusion of the business the chairman referred to Miss Godfrey’s departure for England, and spoke appreciatively of her work for many years past in furthering the objects of the society. Miss Curtis was elected secretary until Miss Godfrey’s return.
