RESULTS OF 42ND WEEK. The Taranaki Egg-Laying Competition Society’s report for the 42nd week is as follows: —■. ( L WHITE LEGHORNS.

NOMINEES FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. HAWERA CLUB TEAM SELECTED. A team of 17 athletes, with two reserves, has been picked to represent the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club at the Wanganui-Taranaki centre championships. to be held at New Plymouth on January. 31. The team will compete in 18 events. Last year Hawera annexed the points banner from Wanganui, with a margin of 3o points over New Plymouth. The team is follows: — 100, 220, 440 yards: T. K. RittCCambie is at present 100 yards and 220 yards champion of the centre, Newell is the 120 yards hurdles champion, Wills is the mile and three miles walk champion and record holder, Lay is the javelin throw champion and record holder, and Hunt is the title and record holder for each of the discus throw, hammer throw and shot put events. PATEA DEFENCE CLUB. COMPETITION SHOOTING. SERIES OF WET WEDNESDAYS. In competition for the Nielson trophy. Patea riflemen faced adverse weather conditions for the 600 yards shoot. An attempt to proceed with the shootin«- by the Wednesday team had to be abandoned owing to rain after Riflemen Roots and Campbell had scored 48 and 47 respectively from 200 yards. The succession of wet Wednesdays has disorganised the shooting programme, this squad being three weeks behind the Saturday team.
