BAND CONTEST AT HAWERA.

ARRANGEMENTS BY COMMITTEE. A meeting of th© Hawera Citizens’ Band contest committee last night elected Mr. E. Dixon chairman and Messrs. A. K. Fyson and E. M. Bardsley were appointed joint secretaries. Mr. F. W. Sutton was appointed treasurer. Messrs. G. Meyrick, R. F. Page. J. Champion, Shepherd and E. M. Bardsley were added to the committee. The chairman, secretaries, treasurer and Messrs. H. N. Lester and R. P. Morrissey were elected an executive. The date of the contest was fixed at March 25. Messrs. Lester, Page, F. Foden and J. Champion were appointed to secure guarantors. PERSONAL ITEMS. Dr. D. Miller, entomologist from the Cawthron Institute, Nelson, is inspecting areas in Taranaki where cinnabar moths were liberated last year. Mr. J. Buck'eridge, who received injuries to an eye as the result of a flying accident at Waipiro Bay recently, and who had subsequently to undergo an operation to have the eye removed, is progressing favourably, report his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Buckeridge, Hawera, who returned from a visit to him at Napier on Thursday.
