Bellringer, town clerk, notified that , the Borough Council had passed resolutions authorising the borough engineer to lay a 2-iricii water main, in Eliot Road upon completion of the loan works in hand; that the council could not see its way to authorise the following works: Entrance and footpath in front of the Westown hall, Ornate Road, from ; hall to Mr. Marfell’s; extension of the.. culvert at the junction of Clawton and Tukapa Streets; road improvement in front of Mr. .Birmingham’s .shop. Mr. Shepherd thought that the Borough Council should. be asked, to extend the water supply op Wallath Road. There Were 11 houses which were servejd by a three-quarter inch pipe. It should also be asked to improve the road. The borough plant would be in the vicinity in the future to provide water for people outside the borough, and he suggested that the larger main ■ should be. extended along Wallath'Road while the work at Eliot Road was being done. Tlie matter was referred to the executive. It was resolved to ask. the Borough Council to place a light in Belt Road at the Westown school and to apply for a light on -the Ornate Road at the Westown hall. .. ; ■ In reply to a question the chairman stated that it was proposed to divide the district into blocks with a member of the executive to look after each block. Mr. Seldon suggested that the executive should make a tour of inspection of the suburb with a view to ascertaining its requirements. He also suggested that before representations were made to the council the executive should satisfy itself as to the merits of the claims.

A suggestion was made that members of the association should endeavour to see that every resident' was enrolled on the district electors’ roll. Reference was made to the fact that £l2OO had been voted for unemployment relief work at Westown and the chairman remarked that the town and district were very fortunate in having such a strong unemployment relief committee to deal with the matter.
