< ; , SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETS (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Inglewood School Committee was held on Wednesday, when Mr. R. Darlow presided and Messrs A. Kirk (secretary), M. Sutherland, C. Reed, P. Speechly and I. P. Grant were also in attendance. The secretary reported that the school mart realised £l6 3s. The chairman stated that a letter had been received from the Waitara ■Seaside Committee asking that the com''mittee consider holding the' annual school picnic at Waitara this year. It was decided for this year to hold the picnic at Waitara on February 5. It was suggested that other small schools also be invited to join Inglewood at the picnic. Mr., J. Evans has returned from Wellington after three weeks’ holiday. Mr. Mulholland, postmaster at Inglewood. has gone to Wellington on leave and Mr. S. E. Evans is acting-postmas-ter. Mrs. Mulholland is accompanying Mr. Mulholland. Mr. S. Crossman, who has been ill for some time, has had a relapse and his condition is causing his friends anxiety. A meeting of the Inglewood Swimming Club committee was held on Wednesday evening when there were present Messrs T, Lindsay (chairman), J. Alleman (secretary), W. Ivivell, D. Gow, R. Crossman arid Mrs. Lindsay. Final arrangements were made for the swimming carnival to be ■'held on January. 2' Officers were elected for the carnival and arrangements -.vere made for the cleaning and whitewashing of the baths. It was decided to invite Fitzroy to play a polo match against Inglewood at the carnival. The secretary reported that from the dance held on December IS there was a credit balance of £1 Is 3d. ..!!■■.. - I-'- (.’•
