CARNIVAL AT HAWERA

i INTER-CLUB SWIMMING BREASTSTROKE CHAMPION SWIMS ©WIMMERS FROM MANY CLUBS Large fields, well-known performers tnd excellent organisation ensured the success of the Hawera Swimming Club’s carnival last night. There was a good attendance. Competition was keen and swimmers from New Plymouth, Stratford, Opunake and Wanganui Clubs added interest. A demonstration of breast-stroke swimming was given by L. Smith, the New Zealand champion. Visitors and competing swimmers were welcomed by the president, Mr. A. W. Lawn, who also expressed the' : club’s thanks to the Hawera Borough Council for the installation of the new lighting system. 'At the conclusion of the carnival a dance was held in the Savoy.
