Limerick.

Limerick has made his reappearance on the Eiccartan tracks, and he was given light exercise on the plough last week-end. He has had two. months’ spell in a good paddock', and . he looks big and healthy, carrying more condi-.. tion than ever previously. . F.?D. Jones will-try his old champion out again,; hut if he shows any evidence of ■ going wrong again he will be thrown out of training for good. Praise Eased Up. ‘ ; ’ Praise is missing from Mr. G. D. Greenwood’s team for Trentham. She ran a good race in the Railway Handicap at Ellerslie, but she developed leg trouble on the trip and P. V. Mason has eased her up, though he. hope’s to have her racing again in the autumn. If she trains on Praise should win some' decent stakes later on, as she represents good class, but she is a difficult filly to train. Funny! No one wanted Gay Idea, the three-year-old sister . to La Toupee,’ in the maiden event on the opening day of the Thames meeting. Gay Idea began brilliantly, but was allowed to drift and finished well back,, her stablemate Leasehold (a hot favourite) winning the race. On 'Saturday there was a ton of money for the filly and the unexpected backing duly materialised into a first dividend. The improvement in form was really remarkable. Ammon Ra. It is more than likely that Ammon Ra, who carried off leading honours among, the two-year-olds at the Auckland Club’s summer meeting by winning both the Great Northern Foal Stakes and the Royal Stakes, will be taken to Sydney in the autumn. Ammon Ra is engaged in the Sires’ Produce Stakes and the Champagne Stakes, at Randwick. The Sires’ Produce Stakes is run over'seven furlongs and is very-richly endowed. Together with a sweepstake'of £lO each add. to a subscription of £lO each from the owners of the sires nominated, there is £5OOO in added money from the club. The Champagne Stakes is a sweepstake of £2O, with £3OOO added, and is run over six furlongs, the winner of any race (not a handicap) of the value of £5OO to the winner’to carry 51b. penalty, of £lOOO 71b. penalty and £ISQO 101 b. penalty. Unless present intentions are altered the son of Limond will make his next appearance in the Wellington Stakes at Trentham next week, and much nur depend on his showing in that event as to the proposed Sydney trip.
