DEATH OF MRS. A. BROWN

AN EARLY TARANAKI SETTLER. The death has occurred of Mrs. AleX Brown, who with her husband resided for many years in the Midhirst district. Mrs. Brown arrived with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Keightley, in the ship Chile at New Plymouth in 1875. From New Plymouth the family removed almost immediately to the newly-formed township of Inglewood. After a stay there of a few years they took up a bush section on the Radnor Road at Midhirst. Mrs. Brown was married in 1885, settling at Waijauku with her husband, who for many years was a well-known settler there, being a director and later chairman of the Midhirst Dairy Company over a long period, as well as a member of several local bodies. Later they resided in the Midhirst district, before finally removing in 1914 to Auckland, .where Mrs. Brown died. The members of the family are: Mr. W. A. Brown (Westown), Mr. Allan Brown (iPaterangi, Te Awamutu), Mr. Frank Brown (Waitoa), Mrs. T. Gillard (Tatuanui), Miss E. Brown (Te Aroha), and Misses. M. Brown and I. Brown (Auckland). ,
