END OF WAREA SCHOOL YEAR

PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY. (From Our Own Correspondent). On Friday afternoon the annual, break-ing-up ceremony and presentation of prizes was held at the Warea school. There was a large atendance of parents and residents. The first part of the afternoon was taken up by a shot* concert presented by the pupils as follows: —Duet. Pat and Teresa Lawn; chorus, senior scholars; recitations, Wi Taiaroa, Aubrey Lilley, Darcy Goodin; quintet. J. Pennington, Enid Wolstenholihe,. Pat Lawn, Pat Longley, Betty Bailey; recitation, .Mary Julian, Graham Caldwell, Gbrdon Julian, pianoforte solo, Patricia Fox; trio, Darcy Goodin, Willie Tairoa, G. Caldwell; recitations, Jack Caldwell, Sam Lewis, Frank Woodward; solo and chorus, Violet Pakysaki and Standards 1 and 2; recitations, Enid Wolstenholme, Stanley Julian, Pat Longley; pianoforte solo, Gwen Moffitt; recitations, Mildred Johns, Joan Penningtbn, Betty Bailey; pianoforte solo, Pat Lawn; action song, juniors; recitations, Joan Putt, Eva Edgecombe; chorus', senior scholars; short play, senior girls. After the concert Mr. A. J. Lilley, chairman, of the* committee, congratulated Mr. Longley and Miss Richard on the year’s work apd the good report obtained from the inspectors. Mr. Lilley expressed regret at losing Miss Richards. Mr. Longley,- headmaster, said the school Was loath to part With Miss Richards. Little Erica Wolstenholme, on behalf of the pupils, presented Miss Richards With a purse, dock and box of handkerchiefs. Mr. Dilley presented the prizes—a book to every child who attended the school, also proficiency certificates to Rex Fowles, Claude • Julian, Albert Wells, Gordon Muir, Joyce Corbett, - Teresa Lawn and Lilly Smith. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Longley, Miss Richards and thfe senior girls.
