CRENNATOWN’S FAST “SEVEN.”

EASTER TIME BEATS GIBRALTAR.

The New Plymouth, tracks were in splendid order on Saturday morning when Crennatown was responsible for a smart seven furlongs and Easter lime heat Gibraltar in a fast-run handicap mile. Royal Finance also pleased by running out a mile in good time. There were some interesting gallops early on Sunday morning, when the members of W. Gall’s team , were seen in action.

Melissa and Miss Chatter were given pace work. A similar task was allotted to Stimulant, Grand Spirit and Miss. Moerangi (Green) ran out a nice six furlongs in lmin 18 2-ssec. He could have improved on this tijhe. .. n Traced worked on the plough, as did B. Johnson’s team. . Crennatown (March) was too good for Omeo (McLeod) over seven furlongs, which occupied lmin 31 3-ssec. Hie half mile was run in 51sec and the last five in lmin 5 4-ssec. Crennatown had something in reserve. . . Te Atiawa (Drinkwater) tired badly at the end of five furlongs and Tangiroa beat him home by a couple of lengths in lmin 3 2-qsec. The first two furlongs occupied 24 l-ssec. ■ There was very little between Manly (Robinson) and Gold Dawn (Marsh) over six furlongs, run in lmin 17sec. The first two took 25sec and the first half mile 50Jsec. A good effort.,Orapai (Drinkwater). came home from the half mile on the plough in 53see, going yell within himself. Cornerman (McLeod) finished .on better than Sparkling Morn (Marsh) over half a mile run in 51 4-ssec. The-first half of the journey occupied 25 2-ssec. Singer hit out freely on the plough, but he is carrying a lot of condition. Easter Time (Goulsbro) recorded a ■brilliant half mile when he beat Gibraltar home in 49 4-ssec. The first two took 24 2-ssec and Easter Time finished on well.- I- •’• ; Razor (Todd) jumped the two hurdles down the back and negotiated the - obstacles very' well. He afterwards did a ‘circuit at solid three-quarter pace. . ’ Lady Quex ’ (Marsh) >was. exercised over six furlongs on the plough and came home the last two in 25sec. The mare was ‘"doing it on her head” and will strip in great condition at Awapuni. Royal Finance (Marsh) began from the mile post and was picked up at the five by Lady Lulu (George). The pair came home on terms, taking lmin Gsec for the- five, and Finance’s time for the full journey was lmin 46sec. She finished on very well indeed. , ’ Hinepuni and .Little. Doubt were given three-quarter pace work. Yesterday’s Work.

Gall’s team was. on 'th®, track, before 5.30 a.m. yesterday morning and galloped on -the plough. . - Grand Spirit (Gall) strode out freely over half - a mile in 51 4-ssec.

Stimulant (Gall), who is not * particularly well-built gelding, surprised by slipping over half a mile in 51 sec. Silent Miss (Gall) came home from the three furlong peg in 38 3-ssec. Traced’ (Drinkwater) ran half a mile on the plough in 52 4-ssec. The Swell (Drinkwater) began with Johnson’s maiden at the mile post and was picked up at the five furlongs by Razor (McLeod), tbe pair coming in on term« in Imin 8 2-ssec. Razor afterwards bolted a couple of rounds with his diminutive pilot. Melissa, Miss Chatter and Barlow’s two-year-olds were trotted on the inner. Auckland, Dec..20..' Condition* were . for training work at Ellerslie this morning, the bulk of the gallops being on the course proper, where the poles were 4Q feet out frqin tho rails. The was fast and several excellent gallops were recorded, the best performances being registered by Nightmarch, who put up a first-class effort over a mile, Count Palatine, Star Stranger, Cylinder and Vertigern, who each went seven furlongs. The best times established by sprinters were those of Hunting Day, Royal Tea, Tehterden and Autopay. Cape Gold assisting her over the last five furlongs, which were traversed in Imin 14sec. . Eager Boise ran the last six furlongs of her work in imin 18 3-s*ec, doing W Hunting Day completed a half-mile sprint in 49 3-s*ec. ' . Love Song covered six furlongs in 1 min 19sec, finishing well. Karangapai and Leasehold were together in front of Creinas King after completing six furlongs in Imin 20 3-5 The Railway Handicap candidate Tenterden ran half a mile in 49 3-s«ec, doing the work well. Star Stranger and Cylinder began from the old mile post and finished the last seven furlongs in Imin 31 3-5 see. There was very little between them at 'the finish,. Star. Stranger going, four furlongs from a flying start in ol 4-5 SG Royal Baby had Autopay as a companiom over three furlongs, which took -38 sec. They were on terms at the finish. ’■ ■ 7 After breakfast Steady Fire was in front of Llanore over six furlongs, in Imin 18 3-ssec. Steady Fire went well. The best gallop was credited to Nightmarch (iR. Reed), who began from the mile post. With Bennie to assist him he ran the first furlong in. 13 l-ssec, three in 38sec, and reached the ha.fmile post in 50 3-feec. True Shaft joined in at this stage, and Nightmarch and he finished together. The time for the mile was Imin 42 l-ssec, the last four furlongs being covered in ol J-osep. Nightmarch galloped evenly throughout and was going particularly well a the finish. Bennie was eased up over the last part. . v Gay Idea and. Bizarro ran. three furlongs in 39 4-ssec and six furlongs in Imin 20eec, finishing together. Gav Cockade (Mcßae) was sent over a mile and a quarter, with Gfenhaupo to assist him over the last half-mile.
