NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE.
It was decided .at last night’s meeting of'' the New Plymouth unemployment committee that the special grant of £7B for immediate relief be devoted to the subsidising of harvesting work in the next few weeks. There were present at the meeting Mr. P. E. Stainton (chairman), Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths (Mayor of New Plymouth), Messrs. J. Brown, J, Palmer, *J. S. Connett, F. T. Bellringer, C. P.' Smith and W. G. Reid (honorary secretary). , bn the motion of. Mr. Connett it was decided to request farmers requiring assistance with harvesting operations, on which up to 7s per day will be paid in subsidy, to avoid unnecessary delay in communicating with one of the representatives of the unemployment committee in their particular district. These are:—Taranaki County, Air. J. S. Connett;. Egmont County, Mr? W. Green; Inglewood County, Messrs. A. Corkill, J. Stachurski, H. Jones and E. C., Judd; Inglewood Borough, Messrs. J. W. Winfidld, E. Crossman,. J. Gibbs, F. Spurdie and J. A. Ross; Waitara Borodgh, Messrs. E. A. George and T. B. Ewens; Clifton County, Messrs. H. Foreman and N. C. Fookes; Farmers’ Union, Mr. A. E. Blyde. Messrs. Connett, Brown and Stainton wore appointed to deal with applications from people with work for unemployed labour.’
