A SHORT POSTPONEMENT

AIR FORCE REFRESHER COURSE.

MINISTER DENIES STATEMENT.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Wellington, Last Night.

The statement that the refresher courses for the Air Force had not been cancelled by the Government,"but merely postponed for a short period, was made by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, to-day. The Minister drew attention to a report which stated that “all the refresher courses for the New Zealand Air Force which were to have been conducted within the next few months have been cancelled, according to Government orders just issued.”

Mr. Cobbe said that statement conveyed an incorrect impression of the position. The air refresher courses had riot; been cancelled, but merely postponed for a .short period. The courses would normally have been held during the months of January, February and March next year, and they would, have continued until April and/ May. “While it is regretted that any slight inconvenience should be caused ■ flying officers in respect of their annual leave, it is considered the postponement should not interfere to any extent with the programme that has been mapped out for the courses,” the Minister added. “The Government has no intention of departing from its policy of according every encouragement to the Air Force of the Dominion.” '
