TRADE UNION LEGISLATION

RETURN OF 1927 POWERS

SYMPATHETIC-STRIKE LEGAL LABOUR BILL IN COMMONS STRONG OPPOSITION LIKELY By Telegraph—Pres. Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.30 p.m. London, Dec. 19.

It is understood that the general effect of the Trades Disputes Bjll, which has been introduced in the House of Commons to amend the law relating to trades disputes and trades unions, is to restore the trades union law to the condition prior to the 1927 Act.

The new Bill, which is likely to be opposed by a section of the Liberals as well as the Conservatives, legalises sympathetic strikes, but does not affect the position legally of general strikes as defined in 1927.

The Bill reverses the position of the political levy requiring payments of all trade unionists.
