BRITISH WAR DEBT COST
SUMS PAID UNITED STATES PAYMENT EXCEEDS RECEIPTS ENORMOUS DEBIT BALANCE (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Dee. 18. The financial Secretary to the Treasury, in a written reply in Parliament, states that the total sums paid to the United States Government on account of British war debt to date, including the payment mads last Monday, exceed the total sums received by Britain in respect of Allied war debts and reparation by £140,000,000. The accumulated deficiency is nearly £200,000,000, if interest on past payments and receipts are taken into account.
