Mr. Edwin Horrobin,' manager of the Blenheim branch of the Bank of Australasia, has been appointed to take charge of the Te Aroha branch of the Jiank. Mr. B. K. White, Wellington, succeeds Mr. Horrobin /it Blenheim. The Prince of Wales is suffering from a slight chill which necessitated the cancellation of his engagements on Thursday, states a British Official Wireless message. These included attendance at the Simon Bolivar commemoration dinner at London, but on the advice of Sir Stanley Heyviti, his physician, he remained indoors for the time being.

Two teachers of the Waitara State School who are leaving after two years on the staff were fareiyelled on Thursday, morning. Mr. W. B... Glasgow, chairman of the school committee, presented Miss V.-Louis with a crystal vase and Miss Chapman with a scent , spray aud .expressed sorrow at their departure. Miss Abraham, who is leaving after several months’ service on the staff, was also farewelled. ” . '
On the qve of his approaching mar-riage-Mr.-Bruce Chapman, one of the auctioneers attached to the stock department of Newton King Ltd., was met- by members of the staff recently and presented with a token of goodwill. The presentation was made by the general manager, Mr. Eric Shaw, who conveyed to Mr. Chapman the good wishes, of the firm. Mr. Chapman briefly replied.
The death has occurred at. Eketahuna of Mr.,Arthur Pyne O’Callaghan, father of Mr. W. O’Callaghan,Hawera. , Mr. A. P. ‘O’Callaghan, who was in his 94th year, had been in New Zealand since 1863. Having taken orders in England, he was for two years vicar pf> Oxford, Canterbury, and then became a farmer. He represented a Canterbury constituency in Parliament from 1882 to 1889 and then joined the Lands Department, taking charge of the Timaru office. In 1897 he° became supervising valuer in Christchurch, and he retired in. 1902. Mr. O’Callaghan was twice married, and his wife, four sous and six daughters survive him.
